Significant Weather Event

ATTENTION: Residents and Visitors of the City of Temiskaming Shores

The City of Temiskaming Shores Public Works Dept. continues to work diligently towards ensuring that our roads and walkways are maintained in a safe manner.

Due to the recent storm and current high winds, our crews are working around the clock to maintain those roads and walkways that have become laden with snow and ice.

We ask that you use extreme caution when venturing out of doors.

In accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02, being a Regulation for Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways, Section 16.9,

The Director of Public Works hereby declares that a Significant Weather Event is approaching or is occurring and has the potential to pose a significant danger to the users of the highways and sidewalks within the municipality.

This advisory is issued effective 6:30 a.m. Monday, February 25th 2019 and will remain in effect until further notice.

 

When a significant weather event has been declared the standard for addressing snow accumulation on roadways and sidewalks until the declaration of the end of the significant weather event is,

(a) to continue to monitor the weather; and

(b) if deemed practicable by the municipality, to deploy resources to address snow accumulation on roadways and sidewalks, starting from the time that the municipality deems appropriate to do so.

When a significant weather event has been declared the standard for treating icy roadways and sidewalks until the declaration of the end of the significant weather event is,

(a) to continue to monitor the weather; and

(b) if deemed practicable by the municipality, to deploy resources to treat icy roadways and sidewalks, starting from the time that the municipality deems appropriate to do so.
