Notification of COVID-19 Case contracted at PDAC 2020

Wednesday, March 11, 2020 – Temiskaming Shores, Ontario

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, Medical Officer of Health with Public Health Sudbury and Districts confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in Sudbury.

The male in his 50’s presented himself to the emergency department at Health Sciences North on March 7, 2020.

It is known that on March 2 and 3, this individual attended PDAC (Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada) 2020 convention in Toronto.

As a precautionary measure, we are asking those who exhibited or volunteered at the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase and those who attended the Northern Ontario Night event at PDAC 2020 to monitor symptoms for 14 days.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can range from mild to severe and include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing (shortness of breath).
