Swimming is an activity that might best be described as "one exercise fits all." It can be practiced by almost anyone, no matter what your age, whether you're in tip top shape or recovering from an injury.
The local indoor pool is located along the shores of beautiful Lake Temiskaming. The pool is a 25 meter, supervised, leisure chlorine pool with a 100 foot slide and a hot tub. The Pool houses a variety of programs from swim lessons to aquafitness.
The pool schedule has ample time to enjoy a wide range of activities such as public swims and adult swims.
The Haileybury public beach is a large outdoor chlorinated, enclosed beach with a beautiful slide. Lifeguard supervision is offered during the summer months. Supervised Public swim are Monday to Friday from 11:30-6:30 and weekends and stats from 12:00-5:30. Lessons are also offered at the Beach

We offer lessons based on the Swim for Life curriculum developed by the Lifesaving Society. These lessons are comprehensive swim instruction that is accessible, flexible, success oriented and fun. Lessons are available from Preschool to Advanced levels. Opportunities for group lessons, adult lessons, private and semi-private are all available. An updated lesson schedule is available one week prior to the registration dates. During the summer lessons are also available at the Haileybury beach.
In person registration for swim lessons is during facility hours. Registration is on a first come- first served basis. To avoid disappointment we suggest you arrive early. Enrollment & Registration begins December 22, 2014 at 6:00am.
Online registration for swim lessons is available from our 24/7 facilities and registration portal. Registration is on a first come- first served basis. To avoid disappointment we suggest you create an account prior to the registration date to expedite the process. Online enrollment begins December 22, 2014 at 6:00am. This method is only available for those who wish to pay with a credit card.

Participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills as individuals and in partners. They learn CPR and develop Water Smart confidence and the lifesaving skills to become their own personal lifeguard. Prerequisites: Recommended 12 years of age.
Learn Lifesaving principles based on water rescue, judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows, carries, and release methods in preparation for rescues of increased risk; learn to respond to increasing complex situations involving conscious and unconscious victims with obstructed airways and develop stroke efficiency and endurance in timed swim. Prerequisites: 12 years of age & Bronze Star or 13 years & good swimming ability.
Bronze Cross teaches the differences between lifesaving and lifeguarding, an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities, the principles of emergency procedures and teamwork. Participants learn how to rescue a spinal injured victim and a pulse-less victim. Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid.
An in-depth understanding of first aid such as medical/legal aspects, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, burns and other medical injuries. Prerequisites: 12 Years and older
Candidates will learn skills relevant to safe supervision of a pool. These include teamwork communication, and the use of specialized equipment and safety supervision. Prerequisites; Age 16, Bronze Cross, and current Standard First Aid with CPR C.
Swim Instructor candidates learn to teach and evaluate basic swim strokes and related skills, and acquire proven teaching methods and a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques. Swim Instructors are certified to teach and evaluate all levels of the Lifesaving Society Swim Program: Parent & Tot, Preschool, Swimmer, and Adult Swimmer. Progressively evaluated, so 100% attendance is required. Prerequisites: 16 years of age or older, and Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard Certified.
The Lifesaving Instructor course prepares instructors to teach the Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze medal awards, and Emergency First Aid. Lifesaving Instructors may evaluate and certify candidates in the Swim Patrol, Bronze Star, Emergency First Aid and Lifesaving fitness Awards. Progressively evaluated, so 100% attendance is required. Prerequisites: 16 years of age & current Bronze Cross or NLS.
Come and get fit with us in the pool. With less stress on the joints of the body, aquafit is an ideal way to get back in shape. We offer a morning class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00-9:45 am. This class is a fast paced class with upbeat music to get your heart pumping!
We also offer an aquafitness class on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1:00-1:45 pm. This slower paced class is geared to participants who may be recovering from an injury, or who may be suffering from a bone or joint problem.
