The City of Temiskaming Shores is excited to launch the new Comprehensive Zoning By-law project.
A Zoning By-law is a regulatory document that implements the provisions of the City's Official Plan and the Provincial Policy Statement. The Zoning By-law sets out the uses that can occur on individual properties, and also sets out all of the rules for development on individual properties, such as setbacks, sizes for buildings and structures, parking spaces, etc.
The City has engaged Planscape, a land use planning consulting firm from Bracebridge, to undertake this project, which will culminate in the adoption of a new Zoning By-law for the entire area of the City. The City is currently working under the individual Zoning By-laws adopted by the Township of Dymond, Town of New Liskeard, and Town of Haileybury, which were all written and enacted in the 1980s. The new comprehensive Zoning By-law will standardize definitions and general provisions, and will set common development standards across the City, where appropriate.
The process for creating the new Zoning By-law will progress through the first part of 2017 with adoption of the new Zoning By-law expected at the end of August, 2017.

In order to ensure the new Zoning By-law accurately reflects the community, we will be actively seeking public input throughout the process through stakeholder meetings, open houses, and formal public meetings. Details of the meetings will be posted on this site, in the Community Bulletin section of the Temiskaming Speaker, and on the City's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
