Dog with glasses and words "Did you return your books late? Because you got fine written all over you."

The best things in life are free! How true that is when considering what your Public Library has to offer: Books, DVDs, Magazines, Games, Puzzles, Backpacks, Snowshoes, Public access computers, free downloadable eBooks and so much more.  These materials are available to all residents of Temiskaming Shores at no cost. Non-residents are subject to an annual fee unless they reside in a contracting township.

The online catalogue allows patrons to put a hold on a particular book, and also to renew books, or if preferred a visit to the library or a phone call will accomplish the same thing. There is a limit to the number of times that items may be renewed.  However, if material is not renewed by the due date, fines are incurred. This encourages patrons to return material on time and allows material to be made readily available to everybody which is consistent with the concept of a shared public facility.

In order to help patrons be aware of due dates, a printed receipt is available when material is checked out, or a receipt can be emailed to patrons if they wish. Patrons can also check their accounts online or by contacting the library.

While we welcome donations of books, such gifts are not able to be used to replace the payment of a fine. Library policy does not allow for this. All members of the library are subject to fines and no exceptions are made.  Staff members are able to cooperate with patrons in arranging payments on excessive fines but if a fine exceeds $20 the patron will not be able to borrow more items until the fine is reduced below this amount.

It is in everyone’s best interest to return or renew material on time and we encourage patrons to do so. If you have any questions or concerns please speak to a member of staff.
