Mount Pleasant Cemetery - Columbarium

Proposed Start Date

Work on the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Columbarium foundation is scheduled to occur beginning mid-October 2024.

Proposed End Date

No later than November 8, 2024.

Landscaping and reinstallation of memorial benches: Spring 2025.

Project Details/ Background

Since installation of the Columbarium in 2009, the foundation has begun to heave, creating a gap between the foundation and the structure.  There will be excavation on opposite sides of the existing concrete block foundation for work to occur. 

The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) granted approval of the construction plan.

Temporary Closure During Construction

For the safety of all visitors, once work has commenced, the Columbarium area will be closed to the public for visitation and interments.  Please keep a safe distance from equipment and do not enter closed areas.

Construction timelines/ work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
